Ron Beitel – Hornist

Brian Blanchard A native of El Paso, Texas, Brian Blanchard is delighted to be joining the Lyceum Music Festival as Brass instructor. Brian has been Associate Principal Horn of the Utah Symphony, Principal Horn of the North Carolina Symphony, Utility Horn with the Saint Louis Symphony, and Associate Principal Horn of the Kansas City Symphony. He has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Worth Symphony, and most recently with the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Symphony. Brian also served as interim-principal horn with the Louisville Orchestra. The horn took him further afield when he performed with the Orchestra of Macau in China. While a student, Brian was also a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago (the training orchestra of the Chicago Symphony) and was a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center.

Before his university studies, Brian graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, MI, where he met his future wife and fellow horn player, Madelyn. Brian later received a Bachelor of Music from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. He also studied at Rice University in Houston, TX. His principal teachers were Dale Clevenger and William VerMeulen.

When not performing, Brian can be found cycling, reading about cycling, or spending time with his wife and their children, Elliott and Lily.
